A Houston Hotel near Rice University
The Houston Marriott Medical Center is not an amazing hotel because it has one minor issue. Because of this, it is only a decent place for people visiting a relative for a day that stays on the Rice University campus.

Anyone who wants to visit his or her child who attends Rice University should consider staying at the Houston Marriott Medical Center. This hotel is location conveniently across the street from the campus, and it is near hospitals and clinics too. In fact, the hotel is positioned right in the middle of the Texas Medical Center; it is also a good place for people who need quick access to the center. For the most part, the hotel is a nice place to stay, but the building has one big issue, the scent of mildew. Some rooms’ scents are worst than others are; however, the A/C helps reduce the smell a bit. If you think that the mildew scent will be an issue for you, you should avoid this hotel. The suites themselves at the Houston Marriott are still decent places to stay for people who can deal with the smell. The only thing that some of the rooms lack is sunlight; these particular windows have windows, but they face the hotel’s dining area, and most guest do not want to open their windows just to watch other people eating their meals. One great thing about staying at the hotel is that someone delivers a newspaper each morning by the door, so everyone is always up to date about current events. If you have a pet, there are welcomed at the Houston Marriott Medical Center too, but most people usually leave their pets at home. The reason why they do this is simple; there are no good walking areas nearby, so dogs will not have much fun during your stay. The best time to bring a pet is probably during a one-night stay at the hotel; your pet will not get bored in that amount of time. During breakfast and lunchtime, there are many dishes to choose from because the hotel has quite a few restaurants. Buffets are also offered, particular during breakfast, so it is a good time to stop by if you would like to start your day fully energized with great food. Whenever restaurant you choose, the décor will not be up to date; the décor is about 20-30 years old. As for other restaurants options in the surrounding area, there are none, you will have to travel farther into the city if you want to eat at other types of restaurants. Speaking of traveling, using a bus is definitely the best option because using the hotel parking area can get very expensive on one day. Whenever a car is put into or removed from the parking garage, there is a charge. It is much easier and cheaper to use a bus to travel the city. For fun at the hotel, the indoor pool is a great; however, it is very small, but it always kept clean. The temperature of the water is usually warm, so swimming is fun even when the weather is not great. People visiting relatives that stay at Rice University should consider checking out the Houston Marriott Medical Center only if the smell of mildew can be handled. As for the food at the hotel restaurants, it is quite good, which is great because there are no other places worth visiting within the area. Overall, the hotel has a few issues, so it is a good place for one night in Houston; the smell may not be bearable for anyone who tries to stay at the hotel any longer than that.
